Ghana`s geographic position can be an enabler of growth for the tree crop sector. While its coastal position and relative proximity to key export markets such as the European Union are often recognized as strengths, a potentially overlooked and more significant factor related to geography is Ghana`s position between major centers of production for tree crops in Asia (particularly South and Southeast Asia) and Latin America. Ghana Has the potential to play the role of a seasonal node in the global market for tree crop products, taking advantage of timing while these other production centres are out of season for a given crop, this will unlock much needed forex and providing access to the international markets.
